Nintendo 3DS Preorders Amazon Go Wild

After a very slow start the Nintendo 3DS has finally captured the buyers imagination and according to the stats on Amazon itself the pre orders have gone wild. The article below tells you what all the fuss is about.

Decisions, Decisions - Will You Pre Order Nintendo 3DS?

By Jackie Ben

There are probably many gamers who are considering whether they should pre order Nintendo 3DS. This is the newest offering in the DS line, taking the portable game system into the realm of 3D gaming. It is slated for release later in March 2011 along with some new 3DS launch games. There are many new features loaded into the console that might persuade a fan to splurge on this new unit.

The new game console allows players to enjoy a 3D gaming experience without needing the goofy glasses. It is all about the 3D, and not just games. One can snap photos and watch videos in three dimensions on the new game console. This unit has a touch screen just as all the others before it, but the display is larger with a higher resolution of 800 x 240. The older models only have a pixel resolution of 320 x 240. The depth of the screen view is what really makes a difference, however. The characters and objects on screen have incredible detail and depth, as if the player can reach in a grab whatever is on screen. The user is able to adjust this depth with a slider control so that one can play games or applications in standard 2D if desired. The 3DS can play older games from the 2D units, so one might use the slider when playing from his existing game library. For those who have older DS units, backwards compatibility is a major factor in the decision to pre order Nintendo 3DS.

The wireless function has added features, as well. Gamers are able to interact socially through Street Pass. This new option allows users to exchange data such as characters and scores wirelessly when in proximity of each other. It also includes Spot Pass, which will locate wireless access points for gamers on the go. The signal frequency for wireless communications is 2.4 GHz. This will pick up other DS users and standard LAN wireless points.

Some other benefits of upgrading to the new Nintendo console are the new adjustable stylus, battery charger cradle, and motion sensors. The stylus has a telescopic adjustment so the user can make it longer if needed. The new charger is much nicer than the old power cords. One just pops the unit into the cradle where it can sit safely out of harms way. The motion and gyro sensors will react to the motion of the player as he or she moves the console up and down or sideways. There are 3DS launch games that will make good use of this feature.

If any gamers are still waffling over whether to pre order Nintendo 3DS, the new features and three-dimensional effects are more than likely worth the upgrade, even for those who bought the relatively new DSi console. Whether the draw is 3D, motion sensing games, or just a love of shiny new techno toys, this new Nintendo release is not likely to disappoint.

For more great information about finding 3DS launch games you should check out the writer's website which has more information available for people wanting to pre order Nintendo 3DS.

Should You Buy An iPad If You Already Have the iPhone or iPod Touch?

There are many iPad questions asking what the place of this device should be on our lives. One of the top questions is whether you should buy an iPad if you already own an iPhone or an iPod Touch. Here’s a quick guide to the important differences.

Claim: The iPad Is A Giant iPad Touch

It’s pretty hard not to compare the iPad with the iPod Touch, which makes the first of the iPad questions very valid. Is the iPad really just a giant iPod Touch? The truth is that the iPad does use the same software of the Touch, with a few tweaks here and there. Although they may be similar, the iPad is much more than simply a giant iPod Touch.

The truth is that the iPad works very much like the Touch, but with some added features including:
* Split screens,
* Toolbar drop-down menus,
* Pop-overs,
* Tap and hold functions,
* Large virtual keyboard,
* And more.

These are new extra functions that are only possible thanks to the larger screen that the iPad brings us.

Claim: The iPad Is Like An iPhone That You Can’t Use To Make Calls

Much like the claim that the iPad doesn’t add much more to the Touch, people are also asking iPad questions like whether it’s even worth buying at all when you can get an iPhone instead. After all, the iPhone allows you to make calls, which you can’t do with the iPad. But it’s important to realize that the same extra functions as above also apply to this argument, as well as a whole new range of applications of the device thanks to the larger size.

So What Does the iPad Add to the Mix?

The larger screen size is the biggest reason why you should see the iPad as a completely different device to both the iPhone and iPod Touch. For one, the full screen now means that you can use the device as an eBook reader. Reading eBooks is possible on the previous devices, but not usually considered very practical due to the small screen.

Next we have video playback. It goes without saying that a bigger screen means you can watch videos in far more comfort. Not only this, but mounts have even been designed so that you can watch videos on the iPad in locations such as the car. Sitting back and relaxing to watch movies wasn’t really an option with the Touch or iPhone, since the screen would be too small to see. The same goes for games.
Extra Facts to Consider

Aside from the fact that the iPad is more functional due to its size, you may also want to take the following facts into account:
* The iPad comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities,
* The iPad screen is almost three times the size of the other devices,
* The iPad does not include a camera,
* The iPad includes greater menu customization options,
* The iPad includes extra native apps that the Touch and iPhone do not: iBooks, Pages (word processor) and others (as well as third party apps taking advantage of the bigger screen).

So, if you’ve been asking iPad questions, such as whether you should just stick with the iPod Touch or iPhone, you should think a bit harder about the different role the iPad may be able to play in your life.

Rockband 3: Get The Latest Music Game Technology For Christmas 2010

When it comes to finding the best presents for teens and tweens this Christmas, video games are always going to come out top. One of the most popular new releases is Rockband 3: the latest in the series of music video games that let you play along to popular songs using controllers that work like various musical instruments.

Rockband 3 Features

The Rockband 3 game has been developed for a number of platforms, so it’s important you choose the right one to match the console owned by the recipient. Rockband 3 is available for:
* Nintendo Wii,
* Playstation 3,
* Xbox 360,
* Nintendo DS.

Rockband 3 also has a number of new options compared to its earlier incarnations. For example, new party modes are great for groups of friends playing together, and the career mode has been altered to now include over 700 goals and different rewards. Players can also create set lists to share with their friends online.

Rockband 3 Songs

Rockband 3 comes with a huge number of songs – 83 to be precise – which means it’s perfect for keeping kids and teens entertained and to stop them getting bored quickly. It’s also compatible with previous Rockband Games and downloaded tracks if you already own them. Players will have access to 2,000 songs to purchase, with more being added all the time.

The songs cover a number of genres, from pop to rock, jazz and reggae. Here’s a small selection of what you’ll get:

* Amy Winehouse, “Rehab”
* Bob Marley, “Get Up Stand Up”
* Elton John, "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting"
* HIM (His Infernal Majesty), "Killing Loneliness"
* Huey Lewis and the News, "The Power of Love"
* John Lennon, "Imagine"
* Ozzy Osbourne, "Crazy Train"
* Queen, "Bohemian Rhapsody"
* Slipknot, "Before I Forget"
* T. Rex, "20th Century Boy"
* The Cure, "Just Like Heaven"
* Them Crooked Vultures, "Dead End Friends"
* Whitesnake, "Here I Go Again"

Rockband 3 Instruments

There are now more instruments to choose from than ever before, with a whole set of controllers designed for Rockband 3. Aside from the original band instruments (the microphone, guitar, drums and bass) – players can also add the new keyboard and two other vocalists to create a 3 part harmony. This means that the game can be played by up to 7 players at once!

Aside from the keyboard, the makers of Rockband 3 have also upgraded the drums (with an extra cymbal set addon), two new guitars designed for “Pro” mode (one that plays like a real guitar, and one with a number of extra buttons) and a new MIDI adaptor that means your existing keyboards or drums can be plugged into the game!

Who To Buy Rockband 3 For?

This is a game that just about anyone will love, kids, teens and adults alike. And, with the addition of the new life-like musical instruments, it’s now more about real-life playing than ever before! However, unless you’re also going to buy the console, you’ll need to find out which console (if any) the recipient has before you buy the game.

The Xbox Kinect And Sony Move Motion Controllers

If you really want to get your teen the latest and greatest in video game technology then Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move are where it’s at.

These are new add-ons for the original consoles, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 respectively, that will mean new motion controlled gaming and extra fun for the
entire family!

What Do The Kinect and Move Do?

Because the technology is so new, it helps to find out a little more about what these controllers actually do before you consider buying them as gifts.

Xbox 360 Kinect: The Kinect was first known as “Project Natal” and is designed without a controller. It actually senses movements (through a senor bar) from your whole body to control what’s happening on the screen.

Sony Playstation Move: This does make use of a controller, but is extremely sophisticated and can sense a wide range of movements. It also makes use of a navigation controller with directional pad.

Both options work to create a new in-game experience that means even the slightest movements are picked up. This is similar to the Nintendo Wii, but goes much further.

Different Purchase Options

If you’re looking to buy either of these motion sensors for your teen or tween this Christmas then you have a few different purchase options. Both can be bought without the consoles (if you already own them), in which case the Move costs around $100 for all of the separate items, and Kinect costs $150.

You can also buy the motion sensors alongside the consoles, if you want an even bigger and better gift. There are two versions of the Xbox 360 & Kinect bundle: $300 for the 4GB console and $400 for the 250GB version. The 320GB Playstation 3 & Move bundle also comes in at $400.

Who Should You Buy The Kinect and Move For?

The Kinect and Move are aimed at both seasoned and casual gamers. Much like the Nintendo Wii, these motion controllers have the ability to get anyone involved, whether they usually like playing video games or not. That said, the Kinect is said to be more family-oriented than the Move – but it all depends on which console your recipient already owns. They’ll already need to have the console for these accessories to work.

Should You Buy The Kinect or Move?

Although these are both technically classed as “controllers” or “accessories” for existing consoles, they don’t come cheap. They are a huge upgrade to previous technology, with the ability to completely change gaming, which comes with a price tag to match.

That said, Kinect and Move are almost guaranteed to provide hours of fun for your teens and tweens this Christmas. Even better, they will allow the whole family to join in! Just make sure that your teen already has the relevant console, or buy the console bundle alongside the controller.

The iPod Is Still Top Of Christmas Wish Lists For Teens

Electronics always seem to be on the Christmas wish lists of teens and tweens, and there’s no denying that the iPod has dominated that list for many years now.

Recently upgraded, the iPod is set to sell in huge qualities for Christmas 2010. Here’s a quick guide to what’s available, and whether the iPod really is the perfect gift for your teen.

iPod

The Apple iPod Classic is now in its sixth generation, and is the biggest and best iPod available yet. It is still considered the hottest MP3 player around, and comes with a whopping 160 GB of space! This is perfect for the music-loving teen who wants a lot of space for their music. Prices start at around $250.
iPod Nano

The newest iPod Nano for Christmas 2010 is in its 6th generation, and is looking sleeker than ever before. It comes in two different hard drive sizes: 8GB and 16GB. You can choose from the following colors to suit the recipient:

* Blue
* Green
* Orange
* Pink
* Silver
* Graphite

The Nano can be played for 24 hours from each charge, and is designed to be as small and as light as possible. It can literally be carried everywhere, and is small enough to fit into a pocket. The newest Nano functions much like a Shuffle (see below), except for the addition of the small touch screen. Prices start at around $150.

iPod Touch
The iPod Touch is the most sophisticated iPod you can get, with most of the same features as the iPhone (without the ability to make calls). It comes in a number of capacities: 8GB, 32GB and 64GB, and prices start at just over $200. This means it’s useful for most music libraries, but some users may find that they need a larger capacity classic iPod to fit on all of their songs.

The Touch can be played for up to 40 hours and includes a huge number of features. Your teen can watch their movies, connect to Wi-Fi networks, download apps to help with school work, instant message with their friends, take photographs with the new camera, and much more!
iPod Shuffle

The iPod Shuffle is currently in its fourth generation and comes in blue, green, orange, pink and silver color schemes. It comes with 2GB, and is a player designed to take to the gym. It doesn’t feature a screen, so it’s easy to control without looking at it. It’s extremely small, and can be played for 15 hours continuously on a single charge. This is also the least expensive version of the iPod available, costing around $50.
Which iPod Should You Buy?

Teens and tweens love just about all models of iPod, so it depends whether they need a large hard drive, want something small, or want the ability to download apps and more. The iPod Touch does the most, but if price is a limit then you may want to look into the other models available.
